5 Types of Indonesian Imperative Sentences. Today we are going to learn about imperative sentences in Bahasa Indonesia. Imperative sentences means to issue a command or instruction, make a request, or offer advice. Basically, to tell or order people what to do.
There are five types of Indonesian imperative sentences. You can use the sentences based on the condition.
- Ordinary Command Sentence
This type of command sentence directly only tells someone to do something.
Katakan padanya apa yang telah kamu lakukan! = Tell her what you did!
Bantu dirinya untuk bangun! = Help him to get up!
Minumlah obat dari dokter = Drink the medicine from the doctor
- Invitation Command Sentence
This type of command sentence contains a command by inviting someone to do something. Usually this command sentence is marked with the words “mari,”ayo,”and so on. Those word means let’s.
Mari membuang sampah pada tempatnya! = Let’s through the garbage in its place!
Ayo pergi ke sekolah! = Let’s go to school!
- Ban Command Sentence
This command means asking or ordering someone not to do or forbid someone else to do something. Usually this sentence is marked with prohibited words such as “jangan“, and others. It means don’t.
Jangan lihat ke sana! = Don’t look there!
Jangan sentuh buku itu! = Don’t touch that book!
Jangan berjalan di atas rumput! = Don’t walk on the grass!
2. Suggestion command Sentence
This command sentence means telling or asking someone to do something by giving advice. This command sentence is marked with words as seharusnya, sebaiknya, and others. Those words mean should, etc.
Sebaiknya kamu datang tepat waktu = You should be on time.
Seharusnya kamu makan makanan sehat = You should eat healthy food.3
3. Polite command sentence
This command line is like an ordinary command sentence but sounds more polite. In order to be a polite command sentence the command sentence needs to be added by using application words such as “mohon”, “tolong”, and others. Those words mean “beg“, “please“, and so on.
Mohon membaca perintah dengan baik! = Please read the command well!
Tolong jangan berisik di ruangan ini! = Please don’t be noisy in this room!
