Modern E-Transportation in Soekarno-Hatta. In the context of developing the electric motor vehicle (Electric Vehicle / EV) Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, Indonesia has operated several types of electric motorized vehicles to support services for passengers and and airport operator. This mode of transportation can be enjoyed by visitors from and to the airport, as well as inside the airport.
There are 7 electricity transportation that can be enjoyed by visitors. Let’s get to know them one by one!
Also called the Kalayang or Gilding Railway, Skytrain begin to operates at Soekarno-Hatta Airport on 17 September 2017. This mode of transportation makes it easy to move people from and to Terminal 1, Terminal 2, Terminal 3, and the Airport Train Station. The skytrain operates every day from 04.33 am to 00.30 am above the dual track with a length of 3 kilometers. It is the first mode of transportation that operates unmanned, with an automated guideway transit system.
- Electric Taxi
Starting May 31, 2019, electric taxis were introduced at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport. The procurement of electric taxis is the result of cooperation between PT. AP II with Blue Bird. Manufacturers selected as electric taxi producers are Tesla from the United States and BYD from China. In total currently there are 4 units of Tesla models X 75D A / T and 24 units of BYD e6 A / T that operates in the airport. The existence of this electric taxi is to support Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in realizing the concept of eco-airport.
- Boogie Car
This transportation service is used to transport passengers inside the terminal. A total of 62 electric-powered boogie cars are operated at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport. The car can be used by passengers who want to leave for the boarding gate and for passengers who have just landed to go to the baggage claim. There are no special requirements for passengers who want to use this facility as it is a service free of charge, so the passengers can simply asks to ride to the local mobile service officer or customer who is at the location.
- Electric Bus
Garuda Indonesia one of the biggest airlines company in Indonesia has operated an electric bus made by PT Mobil Anak Bangsa (MAB), for shuttle employees around the airport. Garuda Indonesia currently operates 1 unit of electric buses with a capacity of 60 passengers. The presence of domestic production electric bus facilities is part of Garuda Indonesia’s commitment to support the competitiveness of superior domestic products and is also a commitment of Garuda Indonesia to protect the environment through the operation of emission-free vehicles. Electric buses used by Garuda Indonesia are of the type MD255-XE2. This bus can go 40-80 kilometers if the battery, which has a capacity of 300 amperes hours (Ah), is fully charged.
- Electric Scooter
One of the newest modes of electricity transportation at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport. PT. Angkasa Pura II in collaboration with Grab, in June 2019 presented the GrabWheels electric scooter as a personal transportation in Terminal 3. With GrabWheels, Soekarno- Hatta Airport became one of the first airports in the world to offer e-scooter services at the passenger terminal. At present there are 20 GrabWheels units set up at Arrival Terminal 3, 10 of which can be used directly by passengers, and 10 other units as replacements. Terminal 3, which covers 430 thousand square meters and is 2.4 kilometers long, can be explored more easily with GrabWheels.
This tiny vehicle was used by service and security officers at the Soekarno-Hatta passenger terminal. By riding a segway, officers can reach their destination faster. AP II also plans to use electric motorized vehicles on the air side of Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, including passenger buses to and from planes and aircraft towing vehicles or aircraft tractors.
- Baggage Towing Tractor
As many as 49 units of baggage tower have been operated by PT. Space Archway. This fleet with electricity and battery supplies is used for towing luggage carts from aircraft to the passenger terminal, and vice versa.
